Description
VMS Spot-On Pigment No. 07 Black Earth is a four-colour pigment premix designed to replicate dark organic soil. Dark earth contains a high amount of organic matter which gives it its characteristic blackish colour. In Russia this soil is known as chernozem, where “cherny” means black and “zemija” means earth.

 

This colour is particularly suitable for depicting the harsh conditions of the Eastern Front. Real chernozem appears almost black when wet, but when dry it reveals various shades of grey and brown. This four-colour pigment blend reproduces the same behaviour: brownish when dusted and deep dark grey with a hint of brown when representing wet soil.

 

Depending on technique and binder used, different shades, coverage and intensity can be achieved.
