Description
VMS Spot-On Pigment No. 17 Dark Old Rust is a dark iron oxide pigment designed to reproduce aged rust on metal parts. This shade serves as the base pigment for rust modulation and should typically be applied first before lighter rust tones are added.

 

It is ideal for components such as mufflers, towing lugs, chains, steel cables, suspension parts of wheeled vehicles, train components, springs, tracks, road wheels and on-vehicle equipment (OVM).

 

In reality, old rust is always darker than fresh rust. This makes the pigment an excellent base colour when building layered rust effects. For best results apply over black or black metallic acrylic base coats.

 

Depending on technique and binder used, different shades, coverage and intensity can be achieved.
