Description

The LCM (Landing Craft Mechanized) is one of the most iconic amphibious vehicles in military history. Its distinctive profile is closely associated with Allied amphibious operations during World War II, from Anzio to the beaches of Normandy.

The LCM-3 variant is regarded as one of the most successful and widely used versions. Its design was simple, robust, and highly functional. The large front loading ramp allowed for the rapid deployment of fully equipped infantry units as well as the transport of heavy vehicles, including the 30-ton M4 Sherman medium tank.

Armor protection was minimal, primarily safeguarding the diesel engine and the crew. With a top speed of around 8 knots and a crew of four, the LCM-3 combined impressive payload capacity with outstanding operational flexibility, earning a significant place in 20th-century military history.
