Description
As the Second World War progressed and German forces steadily lost air superiority, the need for mobile ground-based air defence became increasingly urgent. Germany responded by developing several self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicles based on proven tank and half-track chassis. One of the most successful was the Sd.Kfz. 7/2.

Built on the reliable 8-ton half-track chassis, previously used to tow heavy artillery, the Sd.Kfz. 7/2 was armed with a powerful 3.7cm anti-aircraft gun capable of firing up to 160 rounds per minute. From 1943 onwards, later production vehicles featured additional armour protection around the driver’s position and radiator to improve battlefield survivability.
