Description
The Nieuport XI “Bébé” was a pivotal aircraft of World War I aviation. Introduced in early 1916, it played a crucial role in countering the German Fokker Eindecker during the so-called Fokker Scourge.
Powered by an 80 hp Le Rhône rotary engine, the Nieuport XI could reach speeds of around 175 km/h, making it one of the fastest biplanes of its era. Its innovative sesquiplane design, with a shortened lower wing, provided exceptional manoeuvrability. In Italian service, the Nieuport XI proved to be a highly effective and reliable fighter aircraft.
