Description
The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing is one of the most iconic sports cars of the 1950s and remains a timeless symbol of automotive design. Introduced in 1954, the 300 SL combined advanced engineering, luxury and outstanding performance.

The “SL” designation stands for Sport Leicht (sport light), referring to its innovative tubular spaceframe, which provided exceptional strength with low weight. Powered by a front-mounted 2,996 cc inline six-cylinder engine, the 300 SL could reach a top speed of around 260 km/h, remarkable for its era. Power was delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox.

Its most distinctive feature is the famous upward-opening doors, a necessity due to the high side sills of the tubular frame. These unique doors earned the car its legendary nickname “Gullwing”. To this day, the 300 SL remains a highly prized classic among collectors and enthusiasts.

This Italeri 1:16 scale model kit offers an impressive level of detail, featuring opening body panels, a highly detailed engine and a fully reproduced interior. The large scale makes it a standout centerpiece for classic car modelers.
