The Ford Escort RS 1800 Mk.II is one of the most iconic rally cars of the 1970s. Introduced in 1975, the Escort Mk.II represented a significant evolution over the Mk.I, retaining proven mechanical components while adopting a completely redesigned body that reflected contemporary styling trends.

The high-performance RS 1800 version, powered by a twin-cam four-cylinder engine producing around 115 hp, formed the basis for Ford’s World Rally Championship entries. Between 1975 and 1979, the Escort RS 1800 achieved an extraordinary feat by winning the Lombard RAC Rally five consecutive times, making it one of the most successful cars in British rally history.
