Description

The M60 entered U.S. Army service in the early 1960s as an evolution of the M47 and M48 Patton series. During the Cold War it became the primary Main Battle Tank of American armored forces. Production continued until 1983, with over 15,000 vehicles built and widely exported worldwide.

Armed with the 105 mm M68 gun, the M60 featured a large, well-protected turret and a powerful V12 turbo-diesel engine, providing solid mobility and reliability in a wide range of operational environments.

The M60A3, introduced in 1976, incorporated significant upgrades, including improved turret armor, a revised gun mantlet and major enhancements to fire-control systems and onboard electronics, greatly increasing battlefield effectiveness. The M60A3 saw service in numerous conflicts and remained operational for many years.
