Description
The HMS Hood was one of the most famous British warships in history and remained the world's largest warship for many years. Commissioned in 1920, this impressive battlecruiser became a powerful symbol of the Royal Navy. Her enormous size, powerful armament and elegant silhouette earned her the nickname The Mighty Hood.
During the interwar years, Hood represented British naval power on numerous international visits. Following the outbreak of World War II, she participated in several important naval operations. In July 1940, serving as the flagship of Force H, Hood took part in the British attack on the French fleet at Mers-el-Kébir.
On 24 May 1941, HMS Hood and the battleship HMS Prince of Wales engaged the German battleship Bismarck and heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen during the Battle of the Denmark Strait. After being struck by a shell from Bismarck, Hood suffered a catastrophic explosion and sank within minutes. Of her 1,418 crew members, only three survived.
This impressive Trumpeter 1:200 scale model kit depicts HMS Hood in her 1941 configuration. Measuring over 1.31 metres in length and containing more than 1,490 parts, it offers an exceptional project for enthusiasts of historic naval vessels. The kit features a one-piece hull, finely detailed decks, accurately reproduced gun turrets and seven photo-etched sheets for intricate details.
